Show moreAbout the collective
A collective rights organization for the open internet.
The RSL Collective is a nonprofit that helps publishers and creators license their content for AI use through the open RSL standard — providing the shared infrastructure, governance, reporting, and royalty administration that lets rights holders and AI companies transact on standardized, web-native terms.
Our mission
Rights at the scale of the web.
AI is trained on the open web, but the people who create that content have had no standardized way to set terms or be paid. Individual negotiation doesn't scale to millions of publishers — and it leaves smaller creators out entirely.
The Collective closes that gap. We operate the shared infrastructure that lets any rights holder join one auditable license, and route usage-based royalties back to the publishers whose content creates the value.
Collective licensing is the only mechanism that scales rights to the size of the web while returning value to the people who create it.
— RSL Collective governance charter
Governance
Directed by the people who publish the web.
The Collective is governed by three boards drawn from leading publishers, technologists, and policy experts — setting the standards, safeguards, and economics that keep collective licensing fair and durable.
